Beast

Beasts are one of the three main sapient ancestries in Hanaq, marked by their red blood, animalistic traits, and powerful physiques. With bold, exaggerated features and a dynamic presence, Beasts are often seen as the embodiment of raw energy and determination.

They are known for their bravery, work ethic, and adventurous spirit. Loyal to those they trust and tenacious in the face of adversity, Beasts thrive in challenging environments. However, outsiders—particularly some Fairies and Dragons—often stereotype them as hardheaded or simplistic, failing to recognize the depth and structure within their cultures.

Subtypes

Beasts include a wide range of animal-like people.

Griffons

Proud and fiercely competitive, Griffons have the wings, talons, and head of a bird combined with the powerful body of a feline. They are often natural-born warriors, tacticians, and athletes.

  • Hippogriffs – A common cross between Griffons and Equines. Though technically a hybrid, they are widely accepted within Beast communities for their versatility and light-hearted nature.
Dogs

Loyal and energetic, Dog-type Beasts are often found in physically demanding professions or on the frontier. Their social instincts make them natural pack leaders or team players, and they have a reputation for being both fierce and friendly.

Cats

Agile and self-possessed, Cat-type Beasts are quite rare and often take on solitary or intellectual roles. They are quick-witted and elusive, sometimes seen as aloof by other Beasts.

  • Sphinxes – A Fairy-Beast hybrid with catlike traits

Biology and Reproduction

Beasts have red blood and are known for their exceptional endurance, physical strength, and durability. Their anatomy typically includes claws, paws, or muscular frames adapted for survival.

They can produce offspring with both Fairies and Dragons, resulting in various hybrids. While some hybrids inherit clear traits from one side, others develop distinct abilities or appearances that set them apart from their lineage entirely.

Culture

Beast cultures tend to value personal strength, discipline, and loyalty.

Many Beast societies lean toward patriarchal structures, with males frequently seen as natural leaders due to their perceived tenacity and resilience.
